12/6/2007 & 12/13/2007:  

  • 12/6/07 -- Today, the UN Sub-committee on Transport of Dangerous Good (TDG) voted unanimously to grant IME consultative status to participate in the work of that sub-committee as a non-governmental observer.  IME began participating at the current sub-committee meeting under the IME banner immediately and will continue to do so at future meetings.  Thank you to the USA for their support, the chairman of the Explosives Working Group for his support, and all the other UN experts who overwhelmingly supported IME's application.

  • 12/13/07 -- Likewise, on this date, the UN Sub-committee on the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling voted unanimously to grant IME consultative status to participate in the work of that sub-committee as a non-governmental observer (NGO).

  • Projects - Added a notation that none of the projects described are currently active

  • Meeting Calendar - Added an entry for next year's EPP and CIE Meetings (IME has been asked to demonstrate IMESAFR at this meeting)

  • Reports - Updated the IME document review for December 07: 

    • Added a review of INF.18 regarding use of metal packagings for class 1 goods.

    • Added a review of INF.21 regarding a proposed definition of the term "phlegmatized".

    • Added a review of INF.22 regarding stowage of blasting explosives (UN0083) with ammonium nitrate, inorganic nitrates, alkali metal nitrates, and alkaline earth metal nitrates.

    • Added a review of the draft document by SAAMI regarding the definition of compatibility group "S"

11/19/2007:   Meeting Calendar - Posted information regarding the pre-UN meetings to be held at DGAC on 11/26 and DOT on 11/27.

11/1/2007:   Meeting Calendar - Added an entry for the December 18 meeting of an informal working group on desensitized explosives to be held at BAM in Berlin.  A link is provided to the meeting invitation for those who may wish to attend.  Registration deadline is November 15, 2007.  The IME UN consultant is attending this meeting.

10/23/2007:   Meeting Calendar - We've received word that the DOT pre-UN meeting will be held on 11/27/07 from 9:30am - 1:30pm.  The Federal Register notice and meeting room assignment are pending and will be reported here when available.

10/18/2007:   Reports Page:

  • Added a link for the GHS documents list for the Dec 07 GHS sub-committee meeting

  • Updated the  IME document review for December 07.  Added a review of INF.9 (TDG)/INF.7 (GHS -- an invitation to an informal working group meeting on desensitized explosives to be held at BAM in Berlin on 17 Dec 2007.  Sign up deadline is 15 Nov 2007.  Details are in the INF papers.

10/9/2007:  

  • IME Applies for NGO Status.  In September, IME submitted applications to become a non-governmental observer (NGO) at the UN TDG and GHS sub-committees.  If approved, this status will enable IME to attend these sub-committee meetings as IME rather than as part of the DGAC delegation (DGAC has been very gracious in allowing IME a spot on its delegation for many years).  The application has been accepted and published and will be considered by the sub-committees during their meetings in December.  For more on the IME application, please consult the IME document review for December 07. 

  • Reports Page:  Updated the  IME document review for December 07.  Added a review of DGAC/VOHMA's proposal regarding timeliness requirements of dangerous goods training. 

  • Meeting Calendar has been updated (notations regarding IME's attendance at TDG and GHS meetings)

  • Meeting Calendar:   

    • DOT has published their notice of the public meeting on 6/20/07 to discuss positions for the 31st session of the UN TDG sub-committee.  Links have been added to the meeting calendar.

  • Reports Page:   

    • Updated the July review document.  This document lists those proposals concerning class 1 issues and other documents that have been identified as of interest to IME members.  Today's update reviews INF.7 in which Australia is opposing SAAMI's proposal for a new 1.4 entry for smokeless powder.

    • Posted links to the IME Spring Meeting report.  This report discusses the recent IGUS/EPP meeting, the recent CIE conference, and the coming UN sub-committee sessions.

    • Posted a link to the July review document.  This document lists those proposals concerning class 1 issues and other documents that have been identified as of interest to IME members.

    • Posted links to UN document web sources.  These links provide access to the coming sessions' agendas, working document, informal documents, and (after the sessions have been completed) reports.

  •  Meeting Calendar:

3/26/2007:  

  • Meeting Calendar:   Added (all additions are marked "(added 3/26/07)"):

    • Updated information about the IGUS/EPP meeting.  Updated information includes a 2nd draft of the agenda, minutes from the 2007 meeting, and an important note regarding details for the EPP meeting.  This last item is important, as it contains a form that should be completed and submitted to INERIS staff so that access can be obtained to the INERIS facility (where the meeting will be held).

    • Details (including preliminary agenda and registration form) about the 8th Annual International Conference of Chief Inspectors of Explosives
